About this opportunity
The Department of Energy's Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, through Fermi Research Alliance, LLC, is seeking to procure specialized temperature sensors for cryomodule applications. The procurement involves specific sensor models including CX-1030-SD-HT-1.4L, CX-1030-CU-HT-1.4L, PT-103, and PT-103-AM sensors to be used in scientific research equipment. The agency intends to issue a sole-source subcontract to Lake Shore Cryotronics Inc., utilizing FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(i) authority. Interested organizations are invited to submit their capabilities and qualifications in writing by 4:00 p.m. Central Standard Time on April 10, 2025. The evaluation will focus solely on determining whether the procurement should be conducted on a competitive basis, with the government retaining full discretion in the final procurement approach.
The pre-solicitation notice indicates no specific set-aside designation for this contract opportunity. The total quantity of sensors includes 421 CX-1030-SD-HT-1.4L, 202 CX-1030-CU-HT-1.4L, 45 PT-103, and 97 PT-103-AM units. Lake Shore Cryotronics Inc., located in Westerville, Ohio, is currently identified as the sole provider for these specialized sensors for the Fermilab Accelerator National Laboratory. While specific award values are not disclosed, the procurement falls under the NAICS category 334519 for Other Measuring and Controlling Device Manufacturing and PSC category AG15 for Energy R&D Services. The sensors are highly specialized scientific instruments designed for precise temperature measurements in cryogenic environments, ranging from 0.1K to 873K, indicating a technical complexity that justifies the potential sole-source procurement.
