About this opportunity

The National Library of Medicine (NLM), part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), has issued a Sources Sought Notice for the procurement of a 600 MHz Bruker Cryogenic Probe, Cryogenic Platform, and Associated Helium Compressor. The NLM intends to negotiate a sole-source contract with Bruker BioSpin Corporation for this requirement, pursuant to the applicable Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) provision.

The purpose of this Sources Sought Notice is to allow the NLM to assess the market and determine whether to conduct a competitive procurement. The NLM requires an upgrade from a room temperature probe to a cryogenic probe system that can provide at least a 5-fold increase in signal-to-noise ratio, enabling the study of proteins with solubility challenges. The cryogenic probe and platform system must be 100% compatible with the existing Bruker console equipment and magnet system, and provide specific capabilities such as 1H, 19F, 13C, and 15N NMR, automated tuning and matching, temperature control, and integration with Bruker software. Responses to this Sources Sought Notice are due by August 26, 2024, and the government will determine, at its sole discretion, whether to conduct a competitive procurement based on the information received.
