About this opportunity
The Department of State's US Embassy Madrid is seeking a contractor to supply and install a rooftop air handler unit at their facility in Spain, with the goal of upgrading building ventilation systems and ensuring personnel health and safety. The solicitation requires all contractors to be bonded and possess necessary permits to operate in Spain, with mandatory registration in the System for Award Management (SAM) database prior to contract award. The government intends to award the contract to the lowest-priced technically acceptable offeror, potentially without further discussions, and will utilize a firm fixed-price contract type. Contractors must provide proof of existing permits as part of their offer, and a site visit will be scheduled to inspect the work location, with details to be included in the final solicitation. The proposal response is due by February 12, 2025, with an anticipated project start date in mid-March 2025.
The pre-solicitation notice does not indicate any specific set-aside designations for the contract, making it open to all qualified contractors in the Commercial and Institutional Building Construction sector (NAICS 236220). The project involves maintenance of office buildings (PSC Z1AA) and will require comprehensive material procurement, administrative management, and direct labor to complete the air handler replacement. While no specific award value is mentioned, the scope suggests a focused, targeted infrastructure improvement project. The contract will be executed at the US Embassy in Madrid, Spain, with strict compliance requirements including local permitting and federal acquisition regulations. The government's evaluation will prioritize technical acceptability and pricing, with an emphasis on contractors who can demonstrate immediate readiness and capability to perform the specialized building infrastructure work.
