About this opportunity
The Department of the Army Materiel Command Army Contracting Command has issued a Special Notice for a sole source requirement related to office furniture procurement. Specifically, the notice seeks twenty-eight Steelcase Chord Chairs for the US SOUTHCOM Commander's conference room and office. The procurement is targeting high-quality chairs that will accommodate group discussions and meetings in a professional military setting. This opportunity is classified as an 8(a) Sole Source procurement with a very short timeline, posted on April 3, 2025, and due on April 4, 2025. The contract will be processed through a GSA Contract with installation included, utilizing Operation and Maintenance (O&M) funds for Fiscal Year 25.
The primary objective of this Special Notice is to acquire uniform, high-standard conference and office chairs that meet specific configuration requirements, including pneumatic height adjustability, black resin base, hard casters, black onyx upholstery, and a kneeTilt option. Eligibility is limited, as the procurement is being processed as a sole source action with Empire Office Inc. identified as the only local Steelcase distributor capable of meeting the requirements. The chairs are intended to serve as a central gathering place for prominent military and civilian officials, facilitating communication and decision-making at the SOUTHCOM headquarters. Delivery is estimated at approximately 12 weeks after contract award, with the contracting officer certifying that the purchase represents the best interest of the government.
