About this opportunity

The Department of the Navy Naval Supply Systems Command is seeking to procure a computer subassembly with National Stock Number 7H-5895-015575365, specifically 7 units to be delivered FOB Origin. The procurement is for a specialized component where the government does not own the technical data rights, making traditional competitive sourcing challenging. The government intends to solicit and negotiate with a single source under FAR 6.302-1, though all responsible sources may identify their interest and capability within 45 days of the notice's publication. Interested parties can obtain relevant technical specifications through the DoD Single Stock Point's Document Automation and Production Service, with most documents available via ASSIST-Online. The proposed contract will not utilize FAR Part 12 policies for commercial item acquisition, but vendors may still propose commercial alternatives within 15 days of the notice.

The pre-solicitation notice does not indicate a specific set-aside designation, and no potential incumbent contractors are named. While the exact award value is not specified, the procurement involves a small quantity of 7 units of a specialized computer subassembly. The opportunity is currently open and will remain so until July 3, 2025, providing an extended window for potential vendors to express interest. The procurement falls under the PSC Category 7G20 for IT and Telecom - Network: Analog Voice Products, suggesting the component is likely a specialized electronic or networking hardware item. The government has determined it would be uneconomical to purchase data rights or reverse engineer the part, indicating a unique or complex technical specification that limits competitive sourcing.
