About this opportunity
The Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support Philadelphia is conducting market research on the Commercial Components program for Unitized Group Rations (UGR Heat and Serve and UGR Marines) via a Sources Sought Notice due July 1, 2026; this is not a solicitation and carries no set-aside.
DLA is evaluating the industrial base for suppliers capable of providing 66 commercial food components meeting U.S. Grade A standards and specified packaging requirements, primarily #10 cans or alternative sizes per Commercial Item Descriptions. Components include canned vegetables (applesauce, peas, corn, carrots, beans, mushrooms), canned fruits (peaches, pears, fruit cocktail), canned proteins (ham chunks, boned chicken), dehydrated potatoes, grains and pasta, syrups and condiments, cheese products, gravies, seasonings, sugar products, and shortening.
Of particular interest are suppliers' capabilities to meet increased quantities and accelerated delivery timelines in support of Department of Defense contingencies and emergency peacetime operations, including both surge capacity for early delivery and sustained production throughout contingencies.
Respondents must submit company information (name, address, business type, CAGE Code), business size, employee count, primary and secondary points of contact, experience acquiring and modifying large quantities of commercial items, storage and delivery capabilities, whether large-quantity acquisition is normal business, and ability to provide pricing supported by raw manufacturer invoices. The Government will not compensate respondents and will use responses for informational purposes only. Proprietary information will be protected if marked. Responses should be emailed to James.Kahn@dla.mil or Thomas.Haley@dla.mil. No formal solicitation is currently available.
