About this opportunity
The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, under the Department of the Interior, is conducting market research through a Sources Sought notice to identify potential vendors capable of supplying Coded Wire Fish Tags for use at Coleman and Nimbus Fish Hatcheries. These tags are essential for fishery management and monitoring efforts under the Central Valley Project Improvement Act (CVPIA), specifically for estimating hatchery contributions and triggering environmental protections. The Government requires standard-length coded wire tags encoded with Agency Code "05" to signify production at U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service hatcheries. Interested vendors must submit comprehensive capability statements by November 21, 2025, providing substantive and verifiable evidence demonstrating their ability to design, produce, and deliver tags that are fully compatible in form, function, and performance with those currently in use by USFWS hatcheries. The Government currently believes Northwest Marine Technology, Inc. is the sole manufacturer capable of meeting these specifications, though qualified alternative sources are welcome to demonstrate their capabilities through detailed submissions.
This opportunity involves no set-aside designations and anticipates awarding a Firm Fixed Price Indefinite-Delivery Indefinite-Quantity (IDIQ) contract with a five-year ordering period, though specific award values and quantity requirements are not disclosed in this pre-solicitation notice. Northwest Marine Technology, Inc., identified by product number 1CWTSTANDARD, is the current known source for these specialized coded wire tags. The notice emphasizes that this Sources Sought announcement is issued solely for informational and planning purposes and does not obligate the Government to issue a formal solicitation or award a contract. Vendors responding to this market research opportunity must demonstrate compliance with all technical specifications, including tag length and encoding requirements, as well as compatibility with existing hatchery tagging systems.
