About this opportunity

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued a notice of intent to sole-source a purchase order for one TSI MOUDI-II inhalation particle sizer instrument, with capability statements due by 4 p.m. EST on June 17, 2026. This is a Total Small Business set-aside using simplified acquisition procedures under FAR 12.102(a). CDC has determined that TSI Incorporated is the only manufacturer of a Micro Orifice Uniform-Deposit Impactor meeting the requirement's specifications for wide-range particle size classification and uniform sample deposition needed for inhalation research. The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health will use the instrument at its Morgantown, West Virginia facility (1095 Willowdale Road, Building L, Mail Stop 2027) to measure particle size distributions from 0.05 to 18 micrometers and assess occupational health effects. The 10-stage impactor (Model 120R or 125R) operates at 30 liters per minute and uses disposable foil collection plates weighed before and after sampling. Delivery is required by June 1, 2026, with the procurement period running through May 31, 2027. Any party believing they can perform this requirement should submit a capability statement to Contract Specialist Aminah Gary at uuu0@cdc.gov. This notice is not a request for competitive quotations; the government retains sole discretion to conduct competitive procurement based on responses received.

Notice text

This is a notice of intent to award a sole-source contract using simplified acquisition procedures and is not a request for competitive quotes.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) intends to award a sole-source purchase order using the procedures at RFO 12.102(a) as it has been deemed that only one source is available to meet this specific requirement due to the intended vendor, TSI Incorporated being the only company making a Micro Orifice Uniform-Deposit Impactors (MOUDI) that meets the wide range of size classification, and the ability to deposit the samples uniformly for inhalation research. The statement of work and specifications are attached.

This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. Any party who believes they can perform this requirement should submit a capability statement for consideration by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received by the government as a result of this notice will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct competitive procurement.

The government will not be responsible for any costs incurred by a party who responds to this notice. A party may identify their interest and submit a capability statement by 4pm (EST) on 17 June 2026.

Responses, including questions about this notice, should be sent via email to Contract Specialist, Aminah Gary at uuu0@cdc.gov
