About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Space Command is conducting a Pre-Solicitation Sources Sought notice for the replacement of a rectifier-inverter power system at Buckley Space Force Base in Colorado. The procurement involves the supply and installation of a complete power rectification and distribution infrastructure to support DoD long-haul communications operations at the SBD2/OL-MSG facility in Building 730, Room 132. Key requirements include a replacement rectifier system that meets or exceeds 2,800 amps of load capacity, installation of batteries equivalent to or superior to C&D Technologies MS Endur II units (three strings with 48 jars each), battery disconnects meeting or exceeding Peco II -48V 1800-amp specifications, and a power distribution system matching or exceeding the existing Lorain Power System Model 1231v1. The system must distribute power from three sources—commercial power, battery power, and generator power—to DC breaker panels feeding loads A through F while accommodating existing DC breaker panels and AC circuits. Interested vendors must submit responses to this Sources Sought by April 2, 2026, with all communications directed to 2d Lt Maurice Epps (maurice.epps@spaceforce.mil) or TSgt Matthew Kennedy (matthew.kennedy.24@us.af.mil).
This Pre-Solicitation notice carries a Total Small Business set-aside designation, restricting competition to qualified small business entities. The notice was posted on March 20, 2026, with a response deadline of April 2, 2026, providing vendors approximately 13 calendar days to prepare their submissions. The system replacement requirement was necessitated by water damage sustained on June 26, 2025, making this a critical infrastructure project for the facility's operational continuity. Vendors are expected to provide equipment lead times and coordinate installation scheduling with OL-MSG site personnel, with any power loss requiring advance coordination. The government is seeking capable vendors through this market research vehicle and requests responses that address company information, technical capability, Statement of Need clarifications, and recommendations for system optimization.
