About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Air Mobility Command's 22nd Operational Group is soliciting offers for 105 Bose ProFlight Series 2 Headsets along with compatible adapter plugs to support KC-46 flight operations. The headsets must meet stringent technical specifications including FAA Technical Standard Order approval, compatibility with both high-impedance civil and low-impedance military adapter configurations, an electret microphone compatible with both impedance systems, operation capability on one or two ears, the ability to disable Bluetooth, and design that does not interfere with 3D glasses use during air refueling operations. Evaluation will be conducted on a lowest-price basis with award ceasing once two technically acceptable offers have been identified. The Air Force has determined through competitive testing of over 20 flight headsets from multiple manufacturers that only the Bose ProFlight Series II in the specified six-pin LEMO configuration meets all requirements. Questions regarding the solicitation are due by April 15, 2026 at 10:00 AM Central Time, with proposals due by April 20, 2026 at 10:00 AM Central Time.
This is a 100% small business set-aside under the HUBZone program, issued under NAICS code 334310 (Audio and Video Equipment Manufacturing) with a 750-employee size standard. The procurement includes seven line items totaling 225 units: 90 headsets with accompanying adapters and shipping to McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita, Kansas, and 15 headsets with adapters to the 64th Air Refueling Squadron at Pease Air National Guard Base in Newington, New Hampshire, with delivery required by June 30, 2026. The contractor must provide a minimum one-year warranty covering defects not caused by government damage or misuse, with the headsets to be delivered within 30 calendar days of order receipt. The contract will be awarded as a Firm Fixed Price agreement, and no incumbent contractor is identified in the documentation, as this is a single-source justification based on the Bose ProFlight Series II's unique technical capabilities for this specific military application.
