About this opportunity

The National Park Service (NPS) Midwest Region is conducting a market survey to assess contractor interest and capability for hazard tree removal and storm debris management services. The project involves identifying, planning, removing, and disposing of hazard trees and storm-related debris across approximately 90 acres within Julian Price Memorial Park Campground and the adjacent Price Picnic Area on the Blue Ridge Parkway in Western North Carolina. Contractors must be registered as small businesses under NAICS code 115310 (Support Activities for Forestry) with a size standard of $34 million to be considered for this work. The procurement is categorized under PSC code F014 (Natural Resources/Conservation-Tree Thinning) and aims to ensure public safety, protect park infrastructure, and maintain the natural environment in response to Hurricane Helene storm damage. This market survey is voluntary and non-binding; responses are due by March 13, 2026, and all interested firms must separately respond to future formal solicitation announcements to be considered for contract award. The Contracting Officer will use information from this market survey to determine the overall acquisition strategy.

No set-aside designation has been applied to this procurement opportunity. The project involves significantly higher volumes of tree removal and hauling compared to routine maintenance operations, reflecting the extensive storm damage sustained by the area, though specific budget ranges or award values are not disclosed in this pre-solicitation notice. The work encompasses forest composed of eastern mixed hardwoods typical of mountainous Western North Carolina and includes all necessary labor and materials for complete hazard tree identification, planning, removal, and disposal operations. Interested contractors should monitor SAM.gov for future solicitation announcements and understand that this market survey constitutes neither an invitation for bid, request for proposal, nor any commitment by the government to issue a formal solicitation. All costs associated with responding to this market survey are the responsibility of interested firms, and responses must be submitted via email according to instructions not detailed in this summary.
