About this opportunity

The Department of Energy Office of Science is seeking a contractor to produce six Bipolar Power Supply Controller (BPSC) turnkey units for the Advanced Photon Source Upgrade (APS-U) Project. The solicitation requires the selected vendor to fabricate these units based on proprietary prints and technical documents provided by APS-U, with comprehensive responsibilities including quality control, testing, documentation, and delivery. The procurement will be conducted using a Lowest Price Technically Acceptable (LPTA) evaluation method, with strict adherence to proprietary design specifications. Vendors must not share or repurpose the provided design materials, and any proposed changes require formal approval through an APS Upgrade Supplier Disposition Request. The solicitation is open with a proposal due date of December 19, 2024, and interested contractors must complete the Representations and Certifications form (ANL-70A) and demonstrate compliance with the provided technical requirements.

The contract opportunity is not set aside for any specific business category and appears open to qualified electronic parts and equipment merchant wholesalers. The place of performance is located in Lemont, IL 60439, with delivery of the six BPSC units required by April 1, 2025. The total project involves a broader initiative requiring 200 controllers, with this solicitation covering six additional units (three for installation and three for overage). While specific award value is not explicitly stated, the contract includes net 30 payment terms and requires vendors to provide a 12-month warranty after final acceptance. Contractors must follow detailed technical specifications, including adherence to IPC standards for electronic assemblies, conduct factory acceptance testing, and submit comprehensive documentation for each unit. The procurement is part of Argonne National Laboratory's ongoing technological infrastructure development under its Department of Energy contract.
