About this opportunity

The National Institutes of Health Office of Logistics and Acquisition Operations intends to solicit a Firm Fixed Price purchase order for one Bio-Rad QX600 Droplet Digital PCR System and one Bio-Rad PTC Harmony Deepwell Thermal Cycler, with responses due September 11, 2026. The acquisition is unrestricted with no set-aside. Delivery location is NIH in Bethesda, Maryland.

The system must perform digital droplet PCR using partitioned droplet technology, partitioning each 20 mL reaction into approximately 20,000 droplets and supporting six-color fluorescence detection. It must process 96-well plates, provide absolute nucleic acid quantification without reliance on standard curves, and support mutation detection, copy number variation analysis, gene expression analysis, and viral titer analysis. Required software capabilities include automated thresholding, Poisson analysis, multiplex analysis, and results export. All required computer hardware and system software must be included. The thermal cycler must be compatible with 96-well deepwell PCR plates. Training is not included and the contractor has no obligation to provide user training.

This is a commercial items acquisition conducted under FAR Parts 12 and 13. Award will be made to the responsible offeror offering the most advantageous proposal when considering technical merit, past performance, and cost, with non-cost factors weighted significantly more important than cost. Questions close September 7, 2026 at 12:00 PM EDT. Contract Specialist John Burton and Contracting Officer Michael Falzone are located at the Bethesda contracting office (20892). NAICS code 334516 applies with a small business size standard of 1,000 employees.
