About this opportunity
USDA Rural Development announced a notice of intent to award a sole-source, firm-fixed-price contract for a Bio-Rad CFX Opus Deepwell Real-Time PCR System (part # 17007991) with delivery to the USDA Agricultural Research Service Center for Medical, Agricultural and Veterinary Entomology in Gainesville, Florida; the 10-day response period closes August 29, 2026.
The justification for sole source rests on the requirement for an exact machine model—the CFX Opus 96 base unit paired with the FSD CFX Laptop (part # 1201749)—to ensure 100 percent equivalent assay performance and compatible data output with the facility's existing protocols and instrumentation. The system must be 96-well with 5-color plus FRET optical detection, support multiplex probe assays across at least 5 channels with a dynamic range of 10 orders of magnitude, accept standard semi-skirted 0.2ml 96-well plates, run SYBR Green I assays with sample volumes from 1–125 microliters, connect via ethernet for remote control and network data output, and operate under Bio-Rad CFX-Maestro Windows 10 and 11 software. The contract includes a one-year manufacturer warranty and fits NAICS 334516 (Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing) and PSC 6640 (Laboratory Equipment and Supplies). Contractor shall furnish warranty terms, extended service options, operation and maintenance documentation, and a release of liens prior to final payment processed through the Invoice Processing Platform.
