About this opportunity

The Department of the Interior's National Park Service is seeking a contractor to complete a comprehensive renovation project at Big Bend National Park in Brewster County, Texas. The project encompasses two simultaneous components: replacing the Chisos Mountains Lodge and rehabilitating the Chisos Basin water system. Key contract requirements include demolition of existing structures, constructing new facilities, and implementing water treatment and distribution infrastructure while maintaining minimal disruption to park operations. The procurement will be conducted using an unrestricted Full and Open competition method, with an anticipated solicitation release in April 2025. Interested contractors must have an active registration in the Systems for Awards Management (SAM) and possess a DUNS number to be eligible for consideration.

The project has an estimated contract value of $10 million or more, with a performance period of 549 calendar days under NAICS Category 236220 (Commercial and Institutional Building Construction) with a size standard of $45 million. There are no specific set-aside designations, but the National Park Service encourages participation from small businesses, veteran-owned small businesses, small disadvantaged businesses, and women-owned small businesses. The project is currently unfunded but has a high expectation of future funding, which suggests potential flexibility in the procurement timeline. The construction will be executed while the park remains operational, requiring careful scheduling and coordination to minimize visitor impact. Prospective contractors should be prepared for potential pre-proposal meetings and detailed technical requirements associated with working in a national park environment.
