About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Test Center is conducting a Sources Sought market research process for balance and calibration services for two Gilman/Gisholt balance machines located at Edwards Air Force Base. The agency seeks to identify qualified small businesses capable of performing semi-annual inspection and calibration services for dynamic balancing equipment used with J85-5 engine compressor and turbine rotor assemblies. The pre-solicitation notice requires potential contractors to submit a three-page capability statement responding to the draft Statement of Work, with responses due by March 25, 2025. Contractors must be prepared to conduct two eight-hour service days involving comprehensive machine component inspection, including connections, pickups, motor, braking system, and photocell sensitivity to ensure alignment with original equipment manufacturer specifications. The evaluation will focus on determining small business interest and technical capability to meet the government's precise technical requirements.
While no specific set-aside has been definitively established, the government's intent is to award the contract to a small business within the NAICS category 811210 for Electronic and Precision Equipment Repair and Maintenance. The service will be performed at Building 3810, 295 N. Wolfe Ave, Edwards AFB, California, with the selected contractor responsible for providing labor, equipment, and transportation. The contractor will be required to generate a written Service Report and Certificate of Inspection and Calibration for each machine after service completion. Repair parts will be purchased separately by the government using their Purchase Card Program. The primary point of contact for this potential procurement is Scott Ronfeldt, who can be reached at 661-277-3904, and interested small businesses are encouraged to review the draft Statement of Work to determine their ability to meet the technical specifications and performance requirements.
