About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Air Force Sustainment Center is conducting market research to identify potential manufacturing sources capable of repairing and producing a form, fit, function, and interface replacement for the B-52 Azimuth Circuit Card Assembly (CCA), with responses due by close of business September 16, 2026. This is a Request for Information only; no proposals are being solicited at this time.
The component (NSN 5998-01-228-5360, P/N 377-11736-605) is a multi-layer printed wiring board assembly for the AN/APQ-166 Strategic Radar System's azimuth scanning functions. Immediate need is 29 units with a monthly demand rate of 0.7 units and a 10-year demand projection of 37.4 units. The Government does not own the complete technical data package or unlimited rights to the technical data required for manufacture; The Boeing Company is the OEM.
Respondents must demonstrate capabilities in high-reliability military electronics manufacturing, classified material handling up to Secret level, reverse-engineering without a complete technical data package, obsolescence management, and cybersecurity compliance with DFARS and NIST SP 800-171 standards. The component requires strict compliance with nuclear hardness critical item (NHCI) standards and electrostatic discharge (ESD) sensitivity controls, and must operate with multiple regulated DC voltage rails. Foreign influence risk mitigation is required.
NAICS code 334511 applies, with a small business size standard of 1,250 employees. Large and small businesses, joint ventures, and teaming arrangements are encouraged. The Government's objective is to qualify a competitive manufacturing source to mitigate supply chain risks, avoid obsolescence bottlenecks, and ensure long-term B-52 fleet sustainment. Future competitive procurement may include small business set-aside opportunities. Submit responses to Lt. Brenden Collins at brenden.collins@us.af.mil.
Notice text
The Government is conducting market research to identify potential sources with the expertise, capabilities, experience, and technical repair data necessary to meet qualification requirements to repair the B-52 Azimuth Circuit Card Assembly (CCA). The National Stock Number (NSN) and Part Number (PN) are as follows:
- NSN 5998-01-228-5360, P/N 377-11736-605, Azimuth Circuit Card Assembly (CCA)
This RFI is being conducted to identify different potential non-commercial sources in determining if a future contract effort can be competitively awarded and/or awarded on a total or partial Small Business Set-Aside basis. The applicable North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) code assigned to this effort is 334511 (Search, Navigation, Guidance, Aeronautical, and Nautical System and Instrument Manufacturing).
The Government does not own the complete technical data package (TDP) or the unlimited rights to the technical data required for manufacture. The OEM of this item is The Boeing Company. To mitigate supply chain risks associated with a single source of supply, avoid obsolescence bottlenecks, and ensure long-term sustainment for the B-52 fleet, the Government's primary objective is to qualify a new, competitive manufacturing source that can deliver a form, fit, function, and interface replacement for this CCA. Please note, this is a Request for Information only, the Government is not requesting any proposals in response to this posting.
