About this file
This is a Request for Information (RFI) for market research regarding the B-52 Azimuth Circuit Card Assembly (CCA), National Stock Number 5998-01-228-5360, Part Number 377-11736-605. The Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Air Force Sustainment Center is seeking to identify potential non-commercial manufacturing sources capable of developing a form, fit, function, and interface replacement for this critical component. The immediate need is 29 units with a monthly demand rate of 0.7 units and a 10-year demand projection of 37.4 units. Responses must be submitted by close of business on September 16, 2026, to Lt. Brenden Collins at brenden.collins@us.af.mil.
The Azimuth CCA is a multi-layer printed wiring board assembly that performs signal processing and conversion for the AN/APQ-166 Strategic Radar System's azimuth scanning functions. The component requires strict compliance with nuclear hardness critical item (NHCI) standards, electrostatic discharge (ESD) sensitivity controls, and the ability to operate with multiple regulated DC voltage rails. Respondents must demonstrate capabilities in high-reliability military electronics manufacturing, classified material handling up to Secret level, reverse-engineering without a complete technical data package, obsolescence management, cybersecurity compliance with DFARS and NIST SP 800-171 standards, and foreign influence risk mitigation. The applicable NAICS code is 334511, with a small business size standard of 1,250 employees. Both large and small businesses, joint ventures, and teaming arrangements are encouraged to participate. This market research will inform the government's acquisition strategy for a future competitive procurement that may include small business set-aside opportunities. Participation in this survey does not guarantee participation in future solicitations or contract awards, and the government will not reimburse expenses.

Questions relative to this market survey should be addressed to Lt. Brenden Collins, Logistics Manager or via email at brenden.collins@us.af.mil.
PURPOSE
This RFI is being conducted to identify different potential non-commercial sources in determining if a future contract effort can be competitively awarded and/or awarded on a total or partial Small Business Set-Aside basis. The applicable North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) code assigned to this effort is 334511 (Search, Navigation, Guidance, Aeronautical, and Nautical System and Instrument Manufacturing).
The Government does not own the complete technical data package (TDP) or the unlimited rights to the technical data required for manufacture. The OEM of this item is The Boeing Company. To mitigate supply chain risks associated with a single source of supply, avoid obsolescence bottlenecks, and ensure long-term sustainment for the B-52 fleet, the Government's primary objective is to qualify a new, competitive manufacturing source that can deliver a form, fit, function, and interface replacement for this CCA.
If the Government decides to award a contract for this or related effort, a solicitation will be published and posted on the System for Award Management (SAM) website. The Government will use this information solely to determine the appropriate acquisition strategy for this procurement. The Government is interested in all small business concerns.
Contractors/Institutions responding to this market research are placed on notice that participation in this survey may not ensure participation in future solicitations or contract awards. The government will not reimburse participants for any expenses associated with their participation in this survey.
Interested sources may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirements. Interested sources must maintain facilities and cleared personnel for manufacturing, handling, storing, and maintaining information and operating systems with security classifications up to and including Secret.

· Board Architecture: Multi-layer Printed Wiring Board (PWB) utilizing high-density dual-in-line packaging (DIP) integrated circuits, precision discrete resistors, capacitors, operational amplifiers, line drivers/receivers, and logic arrays.
· Structural Elements: Incorporates a dedicated board stiffener (P/N 377-11708-2) to prevent structural deflection and vibration damage in strategic environments.
· Thermal Management: Utilizes a dedicated copper/aluminum thermal plane (P/N 377-11905-1) paired with thermal wafers (P/N 377-11736-602 and 377-11736-603) to efficiently conduct heat away from active components to the system chassis.
· Interfacing:
· Primary system connection is established through a high-reliability multi-pin connector (P1) (Type: M55302 series).
· Incorporates dedicated on-board Test Points (P2) for diagnostics and system verification.
· Electrical Power Inputs:
· Requires multiple regulated DC voltage rails: +15 VDC, -15 VDC, +5 VDC, +12 VDC, -12 VDC, +28, and +24 VDC.
· Separate, isolated grounds for Analog and Digital signals to minimize electrical noise coupling.
· Special Environmental and Design Classifications:
· Electrostatic Discharge Sensitive (ESDS): Classified as Electrostatic Sensitive (MIL-STD-1686 Class 1/2 or equivalent). All design, assembly, and handling processes must strictly adhere to static protection practices.
· Nuclear Hardness Critical Item (NHCI): This CCA is a Nuclear Hardness Critical Item (HCI). It must maintain nuclear survivability and electromagnetic pulse (EMP) hardness. Any replacement design or proposed component substitution must be rigorously evaluated for nuclear and radiation hardness impacts by the appropriate engineering activity. Hardness Critical Processes (HCP) apply.
The replacement Azimuth CCA must meet all form, fit, function, and interface requirements as referenced in T.O. 11B46-6-5-4. The development effort shall include providing a proactive solution for obsolete electronic components and the engineering support required to investigate future Deficiency Reports and Material Improvement Projects (MIPs).
