About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Air Force Sustainment Center is conducting market research through a Sources Sought Synopsis to identify potential remanufacturers of B-1B Power Take-Off (PTO) shafts under a proposed firm fixed-price, 5-year Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract. The government is seeking responsible sources capable of remanufacturing these aircraft components, classified under NAICS code 336413 with a size standard of 1,250 employees. Interested contractors must submit responses by April 4, 2026, identifying their small business status and providing capability statements that detail similar services delivered to the government and commercial customers over the past three years. The government intends to use respondents' information to determine the optimal acquisition strategy and whether the effort can be made competitive and/or designated as a total small business set-aside. Evaluation will consider the applicant's qualifications, experience, teaming arrangements (if applicable), and demonstrated capability to perform remanufacturing work.
This procurement contains no current set-aside designation, though the government has expressed strong interest in small business participation, including 8(a), Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned, HUBZone, and Women-Owned small business concerns. Collins Aerospace (Goodrich), the original equipment manufacturer, is identified as the current source, and any teaming arrangements must clearly delineate work responsibilities between prime contractors and partners. Specific award values and contract quantities have not been disclosed in this sources sought notice, as the government is still in the market research phase to determine procurement approach and competitive viability. The solicitation number remains to be determined, and formal proposal submission deadlines will be announced following completion of this pre-solicitation phase.
