About this opportunity
The Bureau of Engraving and Printing is conducting a sources-sought market research initiative for recurring armored transportation services, with responses due by August 31, 2026; this RFI is not a solicitation but will inform acquisition planning and strategy.
The Government seeks qualified small business concerns from the 8(a) Business Development Program, Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB), HUBZone, or Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) categories. The requirement covers armored truck services transporting currency and security products between the District Currency Facility in Washington, DC, the Western Currency Facility in Fort Worth, Texas, and other designated locations throughout the continental United States.
The contractor must provide qualified personnel with required security clearances and Commercial Driver's Licenses, armored vehicles complying with strict dimensional restrictions (12 feet 6 inches maximum height, 40 feet maximum length), and comprehensive security protocols including two armed guards per vehicle equipped with 12-gauge shotguns and .38 caliber or 9mm sidearms, plus Level II ballistic protection per Underwriters Laboratories standards. All deliveries must be completed within 24 hours from pickup. Services operate Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., excluding federal holidays.
The anticipated contract structure is a Firm-Fixed-Price Blanket Purchase Agreement with a five-year period of performance or until the maximum ceiling is reached, whichever occurs first. Monthly service requirements vary based on production demands, with individual BPA calls issued as needed. The contractor assumes all liability for BEP items during transport and is responsible for vehicle maintenance, fueling, and repairs. Interested vendors should provide company information, small business socioeconomic status, relevant armored transportation experience, and confirmation of capability to obtain required security clearances and CDLs.
