About this opportunity

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Great Lakes Acquisition Center is seeking a contractor to provide Methylated and hydroxymethylated DNA immunoprecipitation sequencing (MeDIP-seq and hMeDIP-seq) services for research at the William S Middleton VA Medical Center in Madison, WI. The procurement will be conducted as a sole-source contract under simplified acquisition procedures, with the primary objective of supporting traumatic brain injury (TBI) research. Potential contractors must submit detailed capability statements demonstrating their ability to perform complex DNA sequencing and analysis services, including extraction from mouse brain tissue and comprehensive data reporting. Evaluation will be conducted exclusively by the principal investigator, who will assess the technical capabilities and scientific expertise of responding firms. Interested contractors must submit their capability statements via email to Michael Hrdi (michael.hrdi@va.gov) by December 6, 2024, at 10:00 AM Central Standard Time, with responses limited to MS Word or Adobe PDF attachments.

The contract will be a firm-fixed-price arrangement with an estimated duration of 6 months and no option terms, classified under NAICS code 541714 for Research and Development in Biotechnology. While no specific set-aside designations are applied to this opportunity, the VA has indicated that if no suitable responses are received, they will proceed with their initially selected sole-source contractor. The specific research project is identified by the reference number 1I01BX006062-01A1, though no explicit budget range or contract value was disclosed in the pre-solicitation notice. Deliverables are expected to include quality control reports and project summary reports, which must be completed within 56-70 days of service initiation. The VA emphasizes that this sources sought notice is not a formal solicitation, and a Request for Proposal (RFP) may be issued at a later date pending the results of this market research phase.
