About this opportunity
Portsmouth Naval Shipyard intends to solicit a firm fixed price contract to provide replacement materials for the emergency diesel engine onboard a Los Angeles-class submarine from Fairbanks Morse Engine. As the original equipment manufacturer, Fairbanks Morse owns the proprietary drawings, equipment, and processes required to supply the 288 parts and 3,245 items that constitute a complete material set for refurbishing the engine. Questions regarding this sole source requirement are due by September 18, 2020 to Christopher Dooley of the Naval Sea Systems Command.
There is no set-aside designation for this requirement. Fairbanks Morse Engine is identified as the only responsible source given its ownership of the proprietary data as the OEM. The place of performance is Kittery, Maine and all materials must be delivered by January 1, 2022. The justification and approval cites Fairbanks Morse Engine, CAGE code 7Q8V5, as the incumbent and capable of meeting the Navy's needs to refurbish the emergency diesel engine according to approved technical procedures.
