About this file
This document contains a justification and approval for a sole source acquisition. Portsmouth Naval Shipyard intends to award a firm fixed price contract to Fairbanks Morse Engine, the original equipment manufacturer, for the acquisition of long lead time materials required to perform renewal and refurbishment of the emergency diesel engine onboard a Los Angeles-class submarine. The total estimated value of the acquisition is redacted and the required delivery date for the materials is 1 January 2022. The justification cites that Fairbanks Morse Engine is the only responsible source that can provide the proprietary equipment, drawings, and experience needed to supply the replacement materials for the engine in accordance with technical procedures.
