About this opportunity
The Department of Energy Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory is soliciting proposals for architectural and engineering design services to provide final design and construction documents for modifications to the MI-65 stack. The scope of work includes developing designs for a ground-mounted exhaust system with fan and heater, control strategies, transformer placement, a 15,000 gallon integrated condensate storage system, and an adjacent building enclosure. Proposals will be evaluated based on project approach, qualifications, experience with similar projects, past performance for government agencies, and proposed schedule. Proposals are due by March 15, 2024.
There is no set-aside designation for this procurement. The primary NAICS code is 541310 and PSC code R425. Potential incumbents include Jacobs. The place of performance is the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory in Batavia, Illinois. The selected firm will execute a contract to provide 30% design submissions by November 2024 and construction support services through project completion. All design work must adhere to the laboratory's radiological work requirements.
Notice text
This task will provide final design construction documents utilizing the results of the study, initial conceptual design summaries and additional information provided herein. All design will adhere to Fermi Radiological Work requirements.
This task is best described divided into five subsections:
1. Ground mounted exhaust system consisting of fan, heater and stack for condensate boil-off dispersion; design solutions are covered in the study documents and considered at a 30% design level.
2. Control strategies; design solutions covered in this RFP are currently at a 30% design level.
3. Transformer design and placement; as described at a conceptual design level in this RFP. A 30% submission is required.
4. 15,000 gallon integrated condensate storage system; as described at a conceptual design level in this RFP. A 30% submission is required.
5. Permanent separate building enclosure adjacent to MI-65 to house the condensate storage system; as described at a conceptual design level in this RFP. A 30% submission is required.
