About this opportunity

The Defense Health Agency's Operational Medical Systems Warfighter Expeditionary Medicine and Treatment Project Management Office has issued a Request for Information seeking advanced ultrasound capabilities for military medical operations. This Special Notice represents a market research initiative to identify commercial solutions that can address critical gaps in medical data management, patient tracking, and diagnostic capabilities in expeditionary medical environments. The agency is specifically seeking ultrasound technologies that can enhance triage accuracy and support less skilled medical professionals in understanding casualty conditions while improving overall situational awareness. The opportunity is structured as an information-gathering exercise rather than a formal solicitation, with the agency seeking to understand available commercial solutions and mature development efforts in the ultrasound technology space.

The primary objective is to identify ultrasound solutions with Technology Readiness Level 3 or above that incorporate advanced features such as artificial intelligence, automated measurements, and sophisticated software or hardware technologies. Interested vendors must submit electronic white papers in Microsoft Word or PDF format by October 30, 2025, at 4:00 PM EST to the designated contracting officer. Submissions must include a cover page and two completed attachments detailing company information and capability characteristics, with particular emphasis on products that have FDA clearances or can demonstrate clinical safety and efficacy. The RFI targets solutions applicable to Role 1 through Role 3 military medical settings and emphasizes technologies that go beyond current Focused Assessment with Sonography for Trauma standards, with specific interest in AI-powered features like guided-needle placement and automated anatomical labeling capabilities.
