.0 RFI TITLE: Advanced Ultrasound Capability
.0 AGENCY: The Defense Health Agency Operational Medical Systems

.0 LOCATION: Fort Detrick, Maryland
.0 SUBJECT: The Defense Health Agency’s (DHA) Operational Medical Systems (OPMED) Warfighter Expeditionary Medicine and Treatment Project Management Office (WEMT PMO) is conducting market research to determine whether a commercial solution or mature development effort can be provided to fulfill gaps in data management, communication, tracking patient data, more accurate triage and enhancing the abilities of less skilled medical professionals, fostering a more complete understanding of the casualty's condition and enhancing overall situational awareness, using an ultrasound solution.
.0 DISCLAIMER: This is a Request For information (RFI) as defined in FAR 15.201(e) to ascertain whether a commercial item exists that provides the capabilities described herein. This RFI is issued solely for information and planning purposes and does not constitute a solicitation. At this time, questions concerning the composition and requirements for a future request for proposal will not be entertained.
.0 DESCRIPTION: DHA OPMED WEMT PMO has a near-term requirement to field an ultrasound solution with a U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) indication for advanced portable capabilities to supplement diagnostic medical capabilities in far-forward environments (Role 1 to Role 3). The capability could feature advanced software capabilities including, but not limited to, Artificial Intelligence (AI) for image analysis, automated measurements, and decision support, or enhancing patient care through forward applications via streamlined data transfer to gather a holistic view of the patient. Alternatively, a novel hardware solution incorporating advanced software capabilities could address current limitations in portability, power consumption, durability, or imaging quality in challenging environments. The goal of this RFI is to canvas the research and market space for mature Technology Readiness Level 3 or above (TRL 3+). The WEMT PMO is interested in learning about products that are conducting or preparing to demonstrate safety and efficacy in a clinical population or already hold FDA clearances and approvals.
