About this opportunity

The Air Force Research Laboratory, Air Force Materiel Command intends to solicit research proposals for Space Domain Awareness (SDA) characterization and assessment technologies through an open, two-step Advanced Research Announcement; the announcement was cancelled effective 16 October 2026 and no longer accepts white paper submissions.

This ARA (FA8750-24-S-7005) sought research to design, develop, demonstrate, and test technologies for intelligent tasking, collection, processing, exploitation, analysis, and dissemination of data in support of SDA and Space Superiority, including high-performance computational SDA with experimental techniques for ground, orbital, and cyber intelligence analysis to provide integrated, predictive SDA capability. Work was to be performed at AFRL/Information Directorate, Rome Research Site, Rome, New York.

The ARA carried an estimated total funding ceiling of $99 million with individual awards not to exceed 48 months and normally ranging from $1 million to $10 million, though awards up to any dollar value were possible within the ceiling. Multiple awards were anticipated; the Air Force reserved the right to award zero, one, or more procurement contracts or other transaction agreements. White papers were the initial submission vehicle with formal proposals by invitation only. Suggested submission deadlines aligned with fiscal years (FY25 through FY29, with final dates in November of each year), though white papers were accepted until 5 PM EST on 12 July 2029. Evaluation considered technical merit, relevant experience, solution maturity, cost reasonableness, and security risk assessment through parallel review of security-related forms and documentation.
