About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Long Beach Healthcare System is seeking a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business to procure and fabricate six (6) 30-inch diameter cast bronze medallions depicting official emblems of each US military branch. The procurement is designed to honor veterans entering the VA Long Beach Healthcare System for medical services, aligning with the facility's mission to be the top VA healthcare facility in the nation. The contractor will be responsible for developing detailed technical drawings of the medallions, including front and back designs, with specific requirements for material (lead-free tin bronze), finish (chemically oxidized to statuary medium color), and workmanship. The VA will provide the specific emblem images post-award, and the contractor must create technical drawings for Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) approval before fabrication. The pre-solicitation notice indicates a response deadline of March 27, 2025, with the expectation that the contractor will manage the entire design and fabrication process, including project management and protective packaging for shipping.
The contract is specifically set aside for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSB) under NAICS code 339950 for Sign Manufacturing and Product Service Code 9905 for Signs, Advertising Displays, and Identification Plates. While no specific award value is mentioned, the technical specifications are detailed, including requirements for the medallions to be cast in bronze, with a uniform quality, free from defects, and finished with a bright satin finish and clear protective exterior metal lacquer. The medallions will be installed at the Tibor Rucher VA Medical Center in Long Beach, California, as part of the facility's effort to standardize and personalize veteran care. The contractor will need to coordinate closely with the VA, providing progress updates and ensuring the medallions meet all specified technical characteristics. The procurement represents a targeted approach to supporting veteran-owned businesses while creating meaningful architectural elements that honor military service.
