About this opportunity

The Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Lifecycle Management Center issued a sole-source justification and approval notice on April 17, 2026, for a Firm-Fixed-Price contract (FA8218-26-C-B001) awarded to Compass Point, an Alaska Native Corporation and small disadvantaged business, on March 12, 2026. The contract covers Tier II/III help desk support for the sustainment of 911 software and hardware systems across Department of the Air Force installations' Public Safety Answering Points, including support for Digital Logging Recorders and onsite dispatch support at multiple Air Force Bases. The justification for the sole-source award under 10 U.S.C. 3204(a)(5) and Section 8(a) of the Small Business Act was based on market research findings that identified Compass Point as the only capable 8(a) firm possessing the necessary technical expertise to perform these services. The contract value is under $10 million and includes 24/7 technical support and incident response, system monitoring and performance tuning, database management and updates, and compliance with all relevant federal and local 911 regulations and Joint Interoperability Test Command standards. The Air Force committed to re-evaluating the marketplace for subsequent acquisitions to determine whether conditions have changed to allow full and open competition or continuation under the 8(a) program.
