About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), specifically the Veterans Integrated Service Network 20, is conducting market research to identify potential sources for an Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract for insulated shipping boxes and ice packs. The primary objective is to ensure safe and efficient transport of temperature-sensitive pharmaceuticals for the Alaska VA Healthcare System's Supply Chain Management Service. The required shipping containers must be lightweight, reusable, and include foam coolers in two specific sizes: 6x6x6 (small) and 9x9x9 (medium), along with 8oz ice packs. Critical technical requirements include maintaining a temperature range of 2°C to 8°C (35.6°F to 46.4°F) for up to 96 hours during transit. Interested contractors must submit a capability statement, company information, and contact details via email to Darien Justice by February 25, 2025, at 10 AM PST, with responses evaluated based on the ability to meet specified technical and logistical requirements.
No specific set-aside has been designated for this procurement, which falls under NAICS code 339112 for Surgical and Medical Instrument Manufacturing. The potential contract will be a Base plus 4 option years IDIQ contract with estimated annual quantities of 12,000 small insulated cold boxes, 220 medium insulated cold boxes, and 24,000 ice packs. Delivery requirements mandate that all boxes and ice packs be delivered directly to the pharmacy within 24 hours of ordering. While no specific award value is mentioned, the contract appears focused on establishing a reliable supply chain for temperature-sensitive medical shipping containers in the Alaska region. Vendors must demonstrate capability to meet the stringent temperature maintenance and rapid delivery specifications, with failure to do so potentially resulting in exclusion from further consideration.
