About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 15 has posted a Special Notice for Autopacker Consumables for its Centralized Mail-Out Pharmacy (CMOP) operation. This procurement opportunity, identified as 8135, was posted on April 10, 2026, and seeks qualified vendors to supply consumable materials for autopacking equipment used in pharmacy operations. The opportunity is set aside exclusively for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSBs), reflecting the VA's commitment to supporting veteran-owned enterprises. The procurement falls under NAICS code 325992 (Photographic Film, Paper, Plate, Chemical, and Copy Toner Manufacturing) and PSC code 8135 (Packaging and Packing Bulk Materials), indicating the focus is on packaging consumables.
The primary objective of this procurement is to secure reliable autopacker consumables that maintain consistent quality and manufacturing standards to prevent operational issues such as bag jamming and seaming defects that can disrupt prescription production at the CMOP. Interested contractors must submit samples and quotes by April 15, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. to meet the deadline specified in the Request for Quote (RFQ). To participate, vendors must be certified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses. The VA conducted a site visit to allow potential vendors to inspect the autopacking machinery and gain firsthand understanding of the equipment requirements and operational challenges, though proprietary samples of current bags were not available for distribution due to confidentiality agreements with the existing manufacturer.

Please note that Two Questions were recieved.
Question: 1. What the biggest challenge with the Autopacker machines?
Answer: Consistency with the bags. Consistent quality/manufacturing is important to avoid technical difficulties such as bags jamming and/or tearing at the side or bottom seams. These issues create downtime with the machine and directly affect prescription production.
Question: 2. Can samples of the current bags be given out?
Answer: Unfortunately, we are unable to provide samples of the current bag, as it contains proprietary information specific to the manufacturer. This is why we hosted the site visit-to allow you all to view the machine and ask questions.
Samples and Quotes are Due 4/15/2026 at 4pm as noted in the RFQ
Thank you!
