About this opportunity

The Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Integrated Service Network 19, issued a Notice of Intent to sole source a medical gas and cylinder rental contract to General Distributing Co., a small business in Great Falls, Montana, with a response deadline of July 23, 2026. The Montana VA Health Care System lacks internal capability to manufacture medical gases and requires uninterrupted supply to support clinics, wards, surgical facilities, and pharmacy services. General Distributing Co. has been providing these supplies under an existing emergency bridge contract and will continue under a short-term bridge arrangement pending resolution of ongoing VISN IDIQ litigation. The base contract period runs August 1 through October 31, 2026, with two optional 3-month extensions (November 1, 2026 – January 31, 2027, and February 1, 2027 – April 30, 2027). Any delay in medical gas supply would negatively impact healthcare operations. FAR Clause 52.217-8 will be included to permit additional time if required pending the VISN IDIQ contract resolution.

The Montana VA Health Care System requires a short-term bridge contract for medical gas delivery and cylinder rentals. The base period of performance will be from August 1, 2026, through October 31, 2026. The contract will include two (2) 3-month option periods. FAR Clause 52.217-8 will be included in the event additional time is required for the VISN IDIQ contract.

The Montana VA Health Care System does not have the capabilities to produce/manufacture medical gases on its own and there is a need to continue receiving medical gases and cylinder rentals on a continual basis to prevent disruption of these critical healthcare supply and services for clinics, wards, surgery, and pharmacy services. Any delay in supplying these medical gases could negatively impact the operations of the healthcare system. General Distributing Co., a small business, has been providing the required supplies via an emergency bridge contract. To avoid any disruption during the ongoing VISN IDIQ litigation, another short-term contract is necessary to ensure the ongoing supply to the Montana VA Health Care System from the current vendor.

The associated North America Classification Systems (NAICS) Code is 325120 and the Business Size Standard is 1,200 employees.
