About this opportunity

The Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Integrated Service Network 7, Dublin VA Medical Center, has published a Notice of Intent to award a sole source contract to Parata Systems LLC for the provision and maintenance of a Pre-Packager system at Carl Vinson VA Medical Center in Dublin, Georgia. This Special Notice, issued on April 1, 2026, under FAR Part 6.103-1, announces the government's intent to restrict competition on this procurement. The solicitation number is 36C24726Q0429, and it is classified under Product Service Code 6530 (Hospital Furniture, Equipment, Utensils, and Supplies). The notice informs industry contractors that only Parata Systems LLC, located in Durham, North Carolina, is deemed the only responsible available source capable of meeting the agency's requirements. This announcement is published in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation Subpart 5.101 to provide transparency regarding the proposed contract action.

The primary objective of this sole source contract is to procure, deliver, install, and maintain a fully operational Parata Pre-Packager (ATV2) system to support unit-dose and multi-dose medication packaging operations within the pharmacy, thereby enhancing efficiency, accuracy, and patient safety. Interested parties must submit a capabilities statement by April 10, 2026, at 3:00 PM Eastern Time to Earnest Ellison, the Contracting Officer, at earnest.ellison@va.gov. Only Parata Systems LLC is eligible to respond, as the government has determined that the system's proprietary hardware and software, along with specialized installation, integration, training, and preventive maintenance services, can only be provided by the manufacturer and its authorized service engineers. The government's justification for sole sourcing includes the unavailability of compatible third-party alternatives and the manufacturer's policy prohibiting unauthorized vendors from servicing Parata equipment, which would void warranties and system guarantees. The government reserves the right to use submitted information as deemed necessary and is not obligated to award a contract based on this notice.
