About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Integrated Service Network 8, through its Network Contracting Office 8, is conducting market research to procure Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds and associated equipment for the Bay Pines VA Health Care System. This sources sought notice targets Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSBs), Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (VOSBs), Women-Owned Small Businesses (WOSBs), and other small business firms to determine the availability of qualified vendors capable of supplying ICU beds. Respondents must submit detailed capabilities statements by January 23, 2026, at 10:00 AM Eastern Time, including company information, manufacturing details, contract history, and subcontracting percentages. The VA will evaluate responses based solely on determining whether to proceed with a competitive procurement and whether sufficient small business responses warrant setting aside the contract for SDVOSBs or VOSBs. The information submitted will be treated as proprietary and confidential, and the government does not intend to pay for any information provided in response to this notice.
The procurement is not currently subject to a small business set-aside, though one may be implemented based on response outcomes. The requirement involves 24 ICU beds and 24 ICU mattresses, with specific technical specifications including 120V power compatibility, a 290 kg safe working load capacity, oxygen tank holders, in-bed scales, bed exit alarms, and advanced clinical features. Installation is scheduled for June 2026, with the contractor responsible for storage, delivery, installation, testing, removal of existing equipment, and comprehensive onsite training for operating clinicians. The contract will be awarded on a firm-fixed-price basis with a 12-month warranty requirement. The applicable NAICS code is 339113 (Surgical Appliance and Supplies Manufacturing) with a small business size standard of 800 employees, and inquiries should be directed to Cindy Smith at cindy.smith@va.gov.
