About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 23 is seeking to procure an upgrade to the Surgical Lights, Booms, and Integration System for the Sioux Falls VA Health Care System. The procurement is structured as a sole source, firm-fixed price contract under the authority of 38 USC 8127(c), specifically targeting verified service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses. The agency intends to award the contract to L1 Enterprises for Karl Storz equipment that will integrate with existing medical infrastructure. Interested vendors are invited to submit capability statements, proposals, or quotations to demonstrate their ability to meet the government's requirements by 11:00 AM Central Time on June 04, 2025. The contract specialist, Michael Wicht, will review all submitted documentation to determine whether the procurement should remain a sole source award or be converted to a competitive procurement.
The contract opportunity is not designated with a specific set-aside beyond the service-disabled veteran-owned small business provision. L1 Enterprises is currently the presumed sole contractor due to their possession of an indefinite delivery vehicle containing the required Karl Storz equipment. The procurement falls under NAICS code 339112 for Surgical and Medical Instrument Manufacturing and product service code 6515 for Medical and Surgical Instruments, Equipment, and Supplies. While specific award values are not disclosed in the pre-solicitation notice, the contract is intended to upgrade medical equipment at the Sioux Falls VA Health Care System. The government retains full discretion to make the final determination on the procurement method, with the potential to maintain the sole source approach or pivot to a competitive solicitation based on vendor responses.
