About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs, through the Chalmers P. Wylie VA Ambulatory Care Center in Columbus, Ohio, issued a notice of intent to sole source a NuTrace R+ barcode scanner from Martin AIJS LLC under FAR 6.302-1(a) with a response deadline of September 2, 2026, at 5:00 PM EST.
The VA seeks to procure the scanner to replace broken equipment in the Specialty Pharmacy Services department used for tracking laser-etched reusable medical equipment. Martin AIJS LLC, located at 751 Lynnes, Wadsworth, Ohio 44281, is identified as the sole Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business distributor authorized by Original Equipment Manufacturer NuTrace to sell to the VA. The Government asserts the NuTrace R+ scanner is the only model compatible with the existing SPS scanning system infrastructure and therefore the only responsible source capable of satisfying the requirement.
The VA is accepting capability statements from other vendors through the response deadline to determine whether opening the procurement to competition is warranted. All submissions shall be provided at no cost or obligation to the Government. The Government retains sole discretion to proceed with or without competition based on responses received. No formal solicitation is currently available.

Brief Description of Supplies/ Services required and the intended use/Estimated Amount: Acquisition of NuTrace R+ scanner for SPS service. This will be awarded as a new FFP Purchase order
Unique characteristics that limit availability to only one source, with the reason no other supplies or services can be used: The SPS department at Chalmers P Wylie VA needs a barcode scanner to replace their broken barcode scanner for laser-etched reusable medical equipment. The existing scanner that the SPS Service owns is a NuTrace R+ scanner. This model of scanner is the only one that will be compatible with the existing scanning system in the SPS Service.
