About this opportunity

The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 19 (VA VHA VISN 19) has issued a Special Notice of Intent to Sole Source a Firm Fixed Price contract for medical equipment. The notice, posted on March 23, 2025, indicates the agency's plan to award the contract to Alliant Enterprises, Inc. for additional medical equipment for the Emergency Department at the Salt Lake City VA Health Care System. This procurement represents the second part of a construction project focused on specialized boom and light equipment. The contract is being pursued under FAR 6.302-5 and will specifically address the need for compatible medical infrastructure following a previous procurement of Skytron booms and lights. No other brands have been identified as compatible with the existing medical equipment infrastructure.

The purpose of this Special Notice is to procure additional medical equipment arms that can integrate with previously purchased Skytron systems, including features such as multiple equipment mounts, power/gas sources, flatscreen displays, X-ray shields, and surgical lighting. Contractors interested in challenging the sole source determination must submit their capabilities and supporting documentation to Jacqueline.Obryan@va.gov by 10:00 AM Mountain Standard Time on March 26, 2025. The procurement is structured under 38 USC 8127(c) and follows the Non-Manufacturer Rule requirements, with Alliant Enterprises identified as the sole authorized distributor meeting the necessary criteria. Eligibility is limited, as the contract specifically requires compatibility with existing Skytron medical systems installed during the first phase of the project. The NAICS classification for this opportunity is 339112 (Surgical and Medical Instrument Manufacturing), with a Product Service Code of 6515 for Medical and Surgical Instruments, Equipment, and Supplies.
