About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs Network Contracting Office 8 is conducting market research to identify qualified sources capable of providing hospital bed rental services for the C.W. Bill Young VA Medical Center in Bay Pines, Florida. The procurement covers various specialized hospital equipment including air fluidized beds, bariatric low beds, drop-arm commodes, full frame trapezes, and universal mattresses from manufacturers such as Hill Rom, Sizewise, and Umano. This sources sought notice is specifically designed to determine the availability of potential contractors who can meet the Brand Name or Equal Standard Hospital Beds requirement through either the open market or contract schedule procurement. Interested organizations must provide comprehensive company information including their name, address, contact details, business size classification, SAM registration status with UEI number and CAGE code, points of contact, and potentially an authorized service provider letter from manufacturers. All questions must be submitted in writing to colleen.houser@va.gov, and responses to this market research inquiry are due by 10:00 AM Eastern Time on August 18, 2025.
This procurement opportunity is designated as a set-aside for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses under NAICS code 532490 with a small business size standard of $40 million. The anticipated contract structure will be a firm-fixed price arrangement consisting of a base period plus four option periods, providing a total performance timeframe from October 1, 2025, through September 30, 2030. No incumbent contractors or current service providers are specifically identified in the notice, as this represents an initial market research phase to assess vendor capabilities. The government has not disclosed specific award values or budget ranges for this rental contract, though the extended five-year performance period suggests a substantial ongoing commitment to hospital bed rental services. The contracting office will use the information gathered from this sources sought notice to determine whether the eventual solicitation should be set aside exclusively for SDVOSB participation or opened to broader competition.
