About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 10 has published a Special Notice announcing its intent to conduct a sole-source procurement for Radiopharmaceutical Vizamyl (Flutemetamol F 18 Injection). The Dayton Veterans Affairs Medical Center intends to negotiate exclusively with Medi-Physics, Inc. dba GE HealthCare under Federal Acquisition Regulation authority 6.302-1(a)(2), which allows for sole-source procurement when only one responsible source can satisfy agency requirements. The procurement falls under NAICS code 325412 (Pharmaceutical Preparation Manufacturing) with a small business size standard of 1,000 employees. The radiopharmaceutical will be delivered through select third-party radiopharmacy partners including Cardinal, Pharmalogic, Huntsman, or BAMF locations. This specialized medical supply is intended for scanning and detection of Alzheimer's Disease at the VA medical facility.
The primary purpose of this Special Notice is to inform potential contractors of the VA's intent to proceed with a sole-source procurement while providing an opportunity for other businesses to demonstrate their capability to provide the required radiopharmaceutical. Any business believing it can supply the F18 Vizamyl must submit written notice of their capabilities to Contracting Officer Gina P. Crank by Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at 5:00 PM local time. All capability information must be provided at no cost or obligation to the government and should be submitted via email to gina.crank@va.gov with the subject line "RFQ 36C25025Q0945 F18 Vizamyl Dayton." The government will use submitted responses solely to determine whether to open the requirement to competitive bidding, though the final decision to maintain the sole-source approach remains entirely within the government's discretion. No formal solicitation is currently available, and this notice serves as the preliminary market research phase of the procurement process.
