About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Veterans Health Administration, specifically the Northport VA Medical Center, has issued a Special Notice announcing its intent to award a sole source contract to Virsig, LLC of Port Washington, NY. The contract is for a Genetec Shooter Detection System, which will include hardware, software, and installation services to be integrated with the facility's existing security infrastructure. The procurement is being conducted under NAICS code 334290 for Motion Detectors and Security System Manufacturing, with a size standard of 800 employees. The notice is being processed in accordance with FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(ii), which allows for solicitation from a single source. The contract's period of performance is set for 105 days following the award receipt.
The primary purpose of this Special Notice is to provide transparency about the VA's intention to award a non-competitive contract to Virsig, LLC while simultaneously offering an opportunity for other potential vendors to demonstrate their capabilities. Interested contractors are invited to submit expressions of interest (EOI) by February 12, 2025, at 16:00 hours EST, which must be emailed directly to Contracting Officer Jonatan Rondon at Jonatan.Rondon@va.gov. The VA emphasizes that this notice is not a formal request for proposals or quotations, and no contract will be awarded based on responses received. Contractors submitting EOIs should provide detailed information about their capabilities, including pricing and technical data sufficient to demonstrate a comparable alternative to the proposed solution. The government reserves the sole discretion to determine whether to proceed with the sole source award or consider competitive procurement based on the received responses. Importantly, the notice explicitly states that no telephone or email inquiries will be accepted, and submissions will be evaluated strictly for the purpose of assessing potential competitive alternatives.
