About this opportunity

The Department of the Air Force Global Strike Command, specifically the 341st Contracting Squadron at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana, has issued a Special Notice for a 5-Year Crane Inspection contract. The notice indicates an intent to sole-source a contract with MGX Equipment Services for performing a required 3000-hour boom disassembly and inspection on a Manitowoc Crane 1400. MGX Equipment Services is identified as the sole authorized National Crane repair company in Montana, which supports the sole-source approach. The contract opportunity is categorized under the NAICS code 811310 for Commercial and Industrial Machinery and Equipment Repair and Maintenance, with a specific Product Service Code (PSC) of J036 for maintenance and repair of special industry machinery.

The primary objective of this Special Notice is to announce the potential sole-source contract award and provide an opportunity for other potentially qualified sources to demonstrate their capability to compete. Contractors interested in challenging the sole-source determination must submit a written response with clear and convincing evidence that competition would be advantageous to the government. The deadline for submissions is February 21, 2025, by 12:00 PM Mountain Standard Time, and all responses must be sent to SSgt Cody West at the specified email address. While this is not a formal competitive solicitation, all responsible sources may submit a capability statement, proposal, or quotation for consideration. Oral communications are not acceptable, and if no affirmative written responses are received, the award will be made to MGX Equipment Services without further notice. The opportunity is not set aside for any specific type of business, meaning all qualified contractors can potentially respond.
