About this opportunity

The Department of the Air Force Air Combat Command is conducting market research to identify potential vendors capable of manufacturing a custom-built bumper pull enclosed trailer for the 38th Rescue Squadron at Moody Air Force Base, Georgia. This Sources Sought notice is not a formal solicitation but rather an opportunity for interested contractors to express capability and interest in providing this specialized equipment. The trailer must be designed to transport and support dive operations, with a minimum 3,000-pound capacity and nominal interior dimensions of 8.5 feet by 32 feet with a minimum 8-foot interior height and 7-foot 6-inch clear opening at the ramp door. Key requirements include a 50-amp electrical system capable of powering two air conditioning units, electric compressors, and various charging equipment for dive-related electronics, along with specialized features such as E-track wall systems, waterproof flooring, and a minimum 15-inch by 18-inch access door constructed of non-conductive materials. Interested parties must submit information to maximos.ramirez@us.af.mil by May 4, 2026, with questions directed to the same email address or by phone at (229) 257-4712. This notice falls under NAICS code 336212 (Truck Trailer Manufacturing) and PSC code 2330 (Trailers), indicating the procurement will likely follow standard acquisition procedures for this commodity.

No set-aside designations have been applied to this market research initiative, meaning all contractors regardless of business size are eligible to respond. The pre-solicitation notice does not identify any incumbent contractors or current service providers for this requirement. No specific award value or budget range has been disclosed in the notice, though the specialized nature of the custom-built trailer with extensive electrical and climate control systems suggests a substantial procurement value. The trailer specification calls for critical operational equipment including space for approximately 15 personnel dive gear, 20 scuba tanks, two air compressors, a freshwater dip tank, and various underwater search equipment, indicating this is a fully-equipped mobile dive operations platform rather than a basic transport vessel. While no formal solicitation timeline has been provided, interested vendors should anticipate that a formal RFP, RFQ, or IFB may follow this market research phase once the government completes its source identification process.
