About this opportunity

The United States Space Force Contracting Squadron (30 CONS PK) at Vandenberg Space Force Base, California issued a sole-source intent notice on May 1, 2026 to award a firm-fixed-price purchase order to BRAGG INVESTMENT COMPANY, INC. for engine replacement on a John Deere 670G motor grader, with anticipated award on or around May 15, 2026. This notice is justified under 41 USC 1901 and supported by an approved single-source justification; no competitive solicitation will be issued.

The work scope requires removal of a malfunctioning John Deere Power Tech PSS 9.0L 6-cylinder engine and installation of a remanufactured or rebuilt equivalent, ECM reprogramming, and functional testing to restore the grader to operational status. The contractor must be factory-trained and certified by John Deere, use OEM parts exclusively, and complete all work within 45 calendar days of task order award. Deliverables include a post-repair compliance report with operational test results, ECM reprogramming logs, hazardous material disposal certificates, and a roadworthiness certification report, all due within seven calendar days of work completion. The replacement engine must carry a minimum one-year OEM warranty covering parts and labor.

The single-source justification cites John Deere's warranty requirement that only certified dealer locations perform repairs. Market research confirmed Coastline Equipment as the sole vendor reasonably available with exclusive access to proprietary parts, technical manuals, and specialized tools; two other authorized dealers declined the work.

This notice is informational only; no solicitation package will be issued, and responses are solicited solely for determination of future competitive procurement viability. Written responses indicating capability must be submitted via email to SSgt John Boutros at john.boutros@spaceforce.mil.
