About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force United States Air Forces in Europe - Air Forces Africa has issued a Special Notice announcing its intent to award a sole source contract to L3Harris for specialized antenna equipment and radio batteries. The procurement, designated F3N6175140AW01, will be executed by the 700th Contracting Squadron at Kapaun Air Station in Germany to support the 2nd Air Support Operations Squadron (2 ASOS) mission requirements in the USAFE AFAFRICA theater. The acquisition involves various antenna kits and radio batteries designed to support three critical waveforms: Ultra high/Very high frequency radio communications, Tactical spectrum mesh network, and Mobile user objective system. These specialized components are essential for Tactical Air Control Party (TACP) mission operations and must meet specific military-grade standards outlined in government contracts LGL-50.F1 and LG-50.F2. L3Harris has been identified as the sole source provider due to the proprietary nature of their equipment and their exclusive ability to provide compatible systems for the required military applications.
The primary objective of this Special Notice is to inform the contracting community of the government's intent to proceed with a non-competitive sole source acquisition under Simplified Acquisition Procedures, with funding anticipated between the Simplified Acquisition Threshold and $750,000. The notice establishes a closing date of July 9, 2025, at 2:00 PM Central European Summer Time for any responses, though this is not a request for competitive proposals. Contractors seeking information about this procurement should contact SSgt Samuel Root at samuel.root@us.af.mil, as he serves as the primary point of contact for inquiries. The government has determined that only L3Harris possesses the necessary qualifications and proprietary technology to meet the agency's requirements, including compatibility with tactical satellite communications and encryption capabilities. While this procurement will proceed as a sole source acquisition, the government indicates it will continue conducting market research throughout the contract lifecycle to potentially identify alternative technologies for future requirements.
