About this opportunity
The U.S. Geological Survey Woods Hole Coastal & Marine Science Center is seeking to procure a High-Precision Isotopic Carbon Analyzer, specifically the Picarro G2201-i model, for measuring methane and CO2 concentrations and stable carbon isotope ratios. The analyzer will support scientific projects characterizing natural gas from petroleum systems and living ecosystems and must interface with existing USGS equipment. The agency is currently conducting a Request for Information (RFI) to evaluate potential vendor capabilities, with interested firms invited to demonstrate their qualifications by submitting responses by April 07, 2025, at 10:00 AM Pacific time. Respondents are encouraged to indicate their socioeconomic status, which will help determine whether the subsequent solicitation will be conducted as a full and open competition or a small business set-aside. The government's evaluation will focus on vendors' ability to provide the specified equipment and meet the precise technical requirements outlined in the attached documentation.
This acquisition is designated as a total small business set-aside under NAICS code 334516, with a size standard of 1,000 employees. The solicitation (Number 140G0125Q0113) anticipates awarding a firm-fixed price contract for the specified analytical laboratory instrument. While no specific contract value is mentioned, the procurement is focused on obtaining a specialized scientific instrument with precise measurement capabilities. The government emphasizes that any information submitted by respondents is voluntary, and no costs associated with response preparation will be reimbursed. Potential vendors will not receive individual notifications about the assessment results, and the current RFI phase is not accepting questions about the solicitation. The procurement is being managed by the Department of the Interior's US Geological Survey Office of Acquisitions and Grants, targeting a specific instrument critical to ongoing scientific research.
