About this opportunity
The Defense Logistics Agency Aviation is conducting a sole-source procurement for a DMG Mori DMC 270 FD Portal Series CNC Universal Milling Machine under FAR 6.302-1, citing only one responsible source available to meet agency requirements. This acquisition involves a comprehensive package including the five-axis gantry-style machining center with specific technical specifications (106" X and Y axis travel, 63" Z axis travel, 12,000 rpm spindle, 40 horsepower), along with associated services such as installation, training, technical data, foundation preparation, shipping, and rigging services. The machine must be new and commercially available, with surplus items explicitly not acceptable, and must comply with safety standards including an 84-decibel noise level restriction. The government will evaluate proposals using the Lowest Price Technically Acceptable (LPTA) source selection process, requiring technical compliance documentation and past performance evidence. The solicitation deadline has been extended to September 3, 2025, with all offers remaining valid for 120 days from the closing date, and interested parties must direct questions to Christina Petrone at Christina.Petrone@dla.mil before award.
This procurement does not utilize any set-aside designations and is unrestricted to business size, though it is structured as a sole-source acquisition due to the specific technical requirements. While no specific contract value is disclosed in the available documentation, the solicitation covers multiple contract line items each with a quantity of 1.000 unit. The delivery timeline is established at 365 calendar days after order receipt, with performance taking place at Fleet Readiness Center Southwest, Building 472 at Naval Base Coronado (NAS North Island) in San Diego, California. A mandatory site visit was scheduled for June 27, 2025, requiring advance coordination with Marley Soli for base access arrangements. The government reserves the right to not make an award if the submitted quotes are determined not to be in the government's best interest, and all items must be packaged according to ASTM D3951 standards for delivery to the designated facility.
