NASA's Shared Services Center issued a sole-source notice of intent on September 10, 2026, for a one-year service contract to maintain and support a D8 Discover DaVinci X-ray diffraction instrument at NASA Glenn Research Center, with a response deadline of September 15, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. Central Time. NASA intends to award this contract to Bruker AXS LLC under FAR 12.102(a) commercial item authority, though it will consider written capability statements from other organizations to determine whether to conduct competitive procurement.

The Statement of Work specifies comprehensive maintenance and support services from September 10, 2026, through September 9, 2027, including emergency and scheduled maintenance to preserve original equipment performance. Covered services include telephone and remote desktop support during business hours, unlimited emergency service visits with a 48-hour response requirement for breakdowns, planned maintenance with included travel and labor, Bruker software updates, radiation safety verification, and repair parts excluding x-ray sources. Factory-trained service engineers must perform all work. The contractor provides a 10% discount on anodes, x-ray tubes, and training. Excluded from coverage are third-party items, consumables, computers and peripherals, and x-ray tubes.

Interested firms must submit capabilities and qualifications in writing referencing the opportunity ID to Monica Wi (contact details provided in source) no later than September 15, 2026. Price quotes will not be reviewed or accepted. The government reserves discretion to conduct full and open competition based on responses received.

Synopsis:

NASA/NSSC has a requirement for 2026 Service contract for D8 Discover DaVinci. 

NASA/NSSC intends to issue a sole source contract to BRUKER AXS LLC, 5465 E Cheryl PKWY Fitchburg, Wisconsin 53711, under the authority of FAR 12.102(a). It has been determined that BRUKER AXS LLC is the sole provider of 2026 Service contract for D8 Discover DaVinci

NASA/NSSC will be the procuring center for this effort. Performance will be located at NASA/ Glenn Research Center (GRC).

The Government intends to acquire Commercial items or services using the provisions, clauses and procedures prescribed in FAR Part 12 for Commercial

The NAICS Code for this procurement is 811210.

Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:00 p.m. Central Standard Time on 9/15/2026. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government.
