About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Air Combat Command is seeking a contractor to perform comprehensive repairs and upgrades to a 2003 Boston Whaler Model 27 boat and its trailer. The project requires replacing two inoperable 2014 Mercury 250 four-stroke engines with government-provided 2024 Mercury four-stroke engines and performing extensive maintenance and repair work. Contractors must possess specific credentials to work on Mercury motors without voiding warranties and must have a facility located within 100 miles of Las Vegas, Nevada. The solicitation requires detailed equipment replacement, including upgrading electronic systems, replacing harnesses, ignition switches, batteries, and performing necessary fiberglass and mechanical repairs. While specific evaluation criteria are not explicitly detailed, the solicitation indicates that contractors must meet technical qualifications and possess the ability to complete all work within 30 days of award. The pre-solicitation notice was posted on March 6, 2025, with responses due by March 12, 2025.
The contract opportunity does not include any specific set-aside designations and is open to qualified contractors meeting the technical requirements. No incumbent contractor information is provided in the documentation. While no specific award value is mentioned, the comprehensive nature of the repairs suggests a significant project scope involving marine engine replacement, trailer rehabilitation, and operational testing. The project requires replacing four tires, repacking wheel bearings, replacing wood planks, upgrading brake systems, and installing multiple peripheral components such as LED lights, clearance lights, and a new winch cable. The contract includes a mandatory operational testing phase at Lake Mead, where the contractor will transport the boat and demonstrate its full functionality through a one-hour water test. The work is categorized under NAICS code 336611 for Ship Building and Repairing and PSC code R425 for Professional Engineering/Technical Support.
