About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Headquarters District Washington is seeking to procure specialized tableware for the 1st Airlift Squadron's Special Air Mission (SAM) Fox flights. The procurement includes 420 pieces each of porcelain salad plates, soup plates, bread plates, and embassy bowls, along with 16 aircraft mugs and can saucers, and accompanying stainless steel cutlery (420 forks, knives, and dessert spoons). The solicitation requires vendors to submit sample sets for technical evaluation, with the SAM FOX emblem to be featured in bright platinum metal on each item. Potential contractors must ensure the porcelain items are manufactured from kaolin, feldspar, and quartz, fired at high temperatures for durability, and meet specific dimensional requirements. The evaluation will focus on technical acceptability, with the primary contact being ryan_james.lujan@us.af.mil, and responses are due by February 28, 2025.
There are no specific set-aside designations for this contract opportunity, making it open to all qualified vendors in the Pottery, Ceramics, and Plumbing Fixture Manufacturing (NAICS 32711) and Tableware (PSC 7350) categories. The Air Force plans to establish a Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) with the winning vendor to ensure continued stock and uniformity of dishware for future orders. While specific award values are not disclosed, the procurement includes 20 leather placemats in addition to the dishware and cutlery. The items must be lightweight, stackable for aircraft storage, heat-resistant, and preferably eco-friendly. The quantity of 420 pieces for most items suggests a substantial order intended to support high-level government leadership travel requirements, with an emphasis on maintaining consistent and high-quality tableware for Special Air Mission flights.
