About this opportunity
The U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service is seeking a small business contractor to perform repairs on the O'Neil Creek Bridge in the Klamath National Forest, located near Happy Camp, California. The project involves removing and replacing damaged precast prestressed concrete deck slabs, steel bridge railing, approach rail, terminal sections, and installing type 3 object markers with associated traffic control. Contractors must submit a comprehensive proposal including technical documentation, pricing, and past performance information by 1:00 PM PST on June 6th, 2025, with an anticipated project start in July 2025. The solicitation requires a California-licensed contractor who can complete the work within 60 calendar days after receiving the Notice to Proceed. Evaluation criteria will likely include technical capability, past performance, and pricing, with a focus on small business contractors who can meet the detailed technical specifications outlined in the project documents.
The contract is designated as a total small business set-aside with a project value between $250,000 and $500,000 under solicitation number 127EAW25R0012. The bridge repair site is approximately 20.2 miles east of Happy Camp and was damaged during the 2022 McKinney Fire, serving McKinney Creek and providing recreational and timber sale access. Work is constrained to non-holiday weekdays from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with specific requirements for archaeological monitoring and environmental restrictions. Contractors must adhere to Davis-Bacon Act wage determinations and provide a site-specific safety plan, traffic control plan, and hazardous spill plan. The project will require precise implementation of prestressed concrete specifications, bridge construction standards, and fire prevention protocols specific to forest service contracts.
